The Iroquois tribe has a myth called, "Legend of the Maid of the Mist". This myth is that a fair maiden willingly sacrificed herself as an offering to the gods by going down Niagara Falls in a canoe. As she went down the falls she was swept up by Heno, the god of thunder, and taken to the world beneath the waters. There she married the son of Heno. Later in her story she is seen going back to her world to save her people from a poisonous snake sent to bring destruction to her people. Once she defeats the serpent he became a dam for the waters which the Iroquois people believe created the half circle of the falls. This beautiful ring displays the fair maiden nude in her canoe as she descends down the falls. A very detailed and beautiful spoon ring in honor of the Iroquois people.

My goal as an artist is to not only show the beauty and history of each piece of art but also the beauty of the person that wears this ring. I believe every person has a unique identity. With this identity and skills learned throughout life they can go into the world and shed light into dark places. My hope is that my art will help remind each person how unique they are and how they are one of a kind.
